1U support is also available 24/7
to help you get the most out of the application.

  • What is 1U?
  • 1U verifies your identity on your mobile phone using your biometrics to access online accounts and websites. With our premium feature, 1U Turing, you can encrypt and send any digital file—giving you total peace of mind that your personal information is safe.
  • How does 1U work?
  • 1U uses the camera, microphone, and/or fingerprint sensor on your smartphone to capture your one-of-a-kind features—also known as your biometrics—to authenticate your identity and grant access.
  • How much does 1U cost?
  • 1U is free. You can add as many websites and sync to as many devices as you'd like. Our premium feature, 1U Turing, is also free for a limited time.
  • What websites work with 1U?
  • 1U works with more than 15,000 websites. You can also add a custom site or ask us to add one by contacting support@veridiumid.com. You can also access websites that have complex, multi-step logins.
  • Can 1U be spoofed?
  • No. We have created a feature called “Liveness” that adds an extra layer of security so no one can spoof your biometrics with a picture or video. Perform one or two randomized, simple gestures (smile, raise eyebrows, nod, shake your head) to ensure your physical presence at login.

You can activate Liveness when you assign the login method for your websites and files. For top-level security, you can create and assign your own Liveness Signature — which is a series of combined gestures whose order only you know and which you will have to perform without prompts. Our other login methods are already secure so we recommend Liveness Signature when top-level security is needed.

  • Can hackers access my passwords or biometric information?
  • Your security is our top priority. Your biometric information never leaves your phone, putting you in full control. All data is encrypted and stored on your device with 571-bit Elliptic Curve Cryptography (security beyond military-grade encryption). No biometrics match is ever made against any back-end server. Even if hackers intercept communications, they can't see or use your data.
  • What information of mine do you store?
  • We collect the Unique Device Identifier (UDID) from your mobile device — like most apps running on your phone. Your biometrics are encrypted and stored on your device. We do not store this data on a server.

  • How do I install 1U on my phone?
  • It's quick and easy. Download 1U from the Apple App Store or Google Play, open it on your mobile device and follow the simple setup prompts to register. After you register, add a website to start using the app. Here's how:

On the Sites/Accounts tab, tap on the [+] icon on the top right of the screen. Choose one of the websites listed or add a custom website. You can also use the search bar to find a website if you don't see it at first. After selecting the website, you will be prompted to enter the username and password for the account you use to log in. Select your preferred biometric login method and tap Submit. This website will be added to your Sites/Accounts tab and you will never have to enter your username and password again.

  • How can I link 1U with my computer(s)?
  • Once you have activated your account by clicking on the link in your welcome email, download the 1U Desktop Manager on your personal computer. The link to download the 1U Desktop Manager is also in the welcome email you received when you registered with the app. Click the link to download the file. To install, open the downloaded file. Your computer' installation wizard will start. Follow the prompts. After successful installation, you will be asked to set up the 1U Desktop Manager.

On the main setup page, click on ‘Generate QR’ button. Open 1U on your phone and go to the Devices tab. Tap the [+] icon on the top right of the screen and scan the QR code on your computer's screen. Your computer and your mobile device will automatically link and you can now install the 1U Desktop Manager extension on your favorite browser.

Click on Install for the browser(s) you wish to install the 1U Desktop Manager on and follow the prompts. After the extension has been added, you can import your saved credentials.

If installation is successful, the 1U icon will appear in the top right-hand corner of your browser. Click on the 1U icon to use the 1U Desktop Manager.

  • How do I login to a website using 1U?
  • Logging in to a website is simple. After you add the details of the website you want to access (username, password, login method), from the Sites/Accounts tab on your 1U app, tap the website and authenticate with your biometrics when prompted. Once authenticated, you will automatically be logged in either on your mobile device or your personal computer.

Remember to download the 1U Desktop Manager for secure and easy access to your favorite websites on your personal computer.

  • I have two mobile phones. Can I add a second device?
  • Yes. Download 1U on your second device and begin the installation process. When prompted, enter the email address used during your initial 1U setup. Then, follow the remaining prompts to complete setup on your second device.
  • What happens if I need to change my passwords or can't remember them?
  • Don't worry, 1U quickly and securely helps you reveal or reset your password. Follow these two simple steps:
    1. Swipe left on any website, and tap “view/edit.”
    2. Tap “Reveal,” and follow prompts to authenticate your biometrics and show/change your password.
  • Can 1U log me into an app directly instead of into the mobile browser?
  • Yes. We are working with many of your favorite apps to implement this feature
  • Can I back up or restore my data?
  • Yes. Since we do not store usernames and passwords, we recommend that you back up your data using the backup/restore feature on 1U, which is found within the Settings menu.
  • What happens if I lose my phone or I get a new phone?
  • Simply download 1U on your new device and follow the prompts in the enrollment process to replace your lost phone. This will wipe your old phone/device of any saved information.
  • Can I share a password-protected account with someone else (spouse, business partner, etc.)?
  • Yes. 1U makes managing your usernames and passwords simple and easy. You can provide access to your website accounts without revealing your credentials. Simply designate access to another 1U user. Your designated user will receive a notification informing him or her that you have granted access. The shared site will automatically be added to the designated person's 1U app.
  • Can 1U unlock my phone?
  • No. 1U uses your smartphone to log you into your favorite websites securely using your biometrics. It does not unlock your phone.

  • What is 1U Turing?
  • 1U Turing is a premium feature of our 1U app that encrypts your files and emails them securely using your biometrics, putting you back in control of your digital privacy.
  • From which storage platforms can I import files?
  • Files can be imported into the 1U app from iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive and your device's memory. Simply link your storage platform accounts within 1U, and you'll be able to access your files from the app.
  • Which files are supported for preview in 1U Turing
  • Supported file types for preview in 1U Turing include PNG, GIF, JPG, JPEG, CSV, PPS, PPT, PPTX, XML, PDF, XLS, XLSX, BMP, EPS, MP4, MPEG, 3GP, MOV, MP3, WAV, Ogg, Doc, DOCX, log, RTF, txt, Numbers, Keynote, XLT, XLTX, DXF, HTM, HTML, JS, CSS, PHP, ICO, CFT and INI. Note: The preview feature is limited to the native OS and third-party cloud services.
  • Can I share a file with someone that doesn't have 1U Turing?
  • No. 1U Turing lets you share files securely via email. For recipients to open and decrypt your file, they must go through biometric authentication within 1U, which means they have to be a 1U user. If they are not, they can still receive the file but won't be able to open it.
  • Can I encrypt files directly on my personal computer?
  • Yes. With the 1U Desktop Manager, you can import files using the browser interface. However, biometric authentication will always occur on your smartphone. You can also right click on any file stored on your computer and encrypt it with 1U Turing.
  • Can I share files with a group of people?
  • Yes. With 1U Turing, you can set and manage groups so file sharing is easy.
  • Can I revoke access to a file I have already sent?
  • Yes. You can manage permissions and revoke access to files anytime using any synced device
  • Can I share complete folders instead of individual files?
  • Yes. 1U Turing can import and encrypt a set of files. You then manage access and privileges to the folder and set of files instead of each individual file.

  • 1U is not recognizing me, why?
  • Lighting, speed and distance from the camera each play a role in successful authentication.

To get the best results, here are a few tips.

    1. For facial recognition:
      • 1U works best in a well-lighted surrounding but make sure it's not too bright
      • Position your face in the template on the screen.
      • Keep your device still and stable during the biometric scan.
    2. For fingerprint recognition: Make sure your fingerprint sensor is clean and that you have enabled TouchID or fingerprint recognition on your device.
  • What happens if I cannot authenticate?
  • If you are unable to authenticate, we suggest you change environment based on the information we described above. Too much or too little lighting may affect facial recognition. If after doing this you still can't authenticate, please contact a 1U Ambassador at support@veridiumid.com so they can diagnose and troubleshoot the issue.

Please note that 1U will lock you out and ask that you re-register after 5 failed login attempts in order to protect your security.

  • I haven't received my 1U activation email, what should I do?
  • Check your Spam or Junk folder. If you are unable to locate the email, cancel enrollment and try again. If you continue having issues with the activation email, contact a 1U Ambassador at support@veridiumid.com.
  • Can I change my enrollment picture?
  • To change your enrollment picture, you will have to reset the 1U app. The reset will erase all your data, which will need to be entered again once you have re-enrolled.
